There is one thing we all look for in a restaurant and that's consistent quality. I have been to LD'S many times and it is consistently excellent. The food is always great and it's always clean. The service is of high quality. I have recommended it to many freinds and they all have said they loved it. If you love great BBQ this is your place.

Don't be scared off by this place being in a gas station. They made the best Pulled pork sandwich I've had in a very long time! Very good and large portions!

Absolute BEST BBQ!!! Love the potato salad and cornbread as well. My favorite is BBQ chicken. So tender and juicy

Its true you can fill up the car with gas and get AWESOME barbecue. Leon is the owner and spent time to come in the long line to take our order. He is willing to give you a sample of his Q without hesitation. He handed my Father-in-Law and I a rib each to try. The St. Louis cut ribs had a good smoke ring and was tender and seasoned well no need for sauce. BBQ needs be good without the sauce and his are all that. We ordered a pound of rib tips an they were succulent. Women of Walworth county if your husband goes to fill up the car with gas near dinner time and comes home not hungry you now know why. Check for BBQ on the breath. My daughter tasted the leftover rib tips from the fridge and stated they were "legit". This is a carryout type of place with a few tables. No dining room. The stop will be worth it.

If you drive by, smelling something THAT heavenly, and DON'T stop...you've got no soul! I have yet to try something that I didn't care for. Just as an aside (pun intended), I can't get enough of the potato salad. Best ever!

Well, this is almost 5 stars. Here is the problem. I went there on Sunday night, and they were virtually out of everything. They did have brisket, pulled pork and chicken, so I got some of those and they were awesome. The chicken was the best smoked chicken I've ever had. They were also out of all the side, except for cole slaw, and that was just ordinary. I can highly recommend the meats at this place, but maybe avoid it on Sunday night if they can't keep enough food.

Wisconsin is not known for BBQ, but places like this help. First sign of good BBQ, seeing the smoker smoking and smelling smoke. The ribs are fantastic, as is the brisket, chicken and smoked sausage. Corn bread is good and moist, and the beans are great too, with pieces of rib meat distributed throughout the beans. They are a good mix of sweet and smoky.

Holy Cannoli! I'm sitting in a BP gas station parking lot right off the highway, eating some of the best barbecue I've ever eaten. And I'm not exagerating even a little. And I've eaten a lot if barbecue in my days. I am really never in this neck of the woods at 43 and 20. But my husband has to try this. We will find a reason to be back. I stopped for gas, saw the huge smokers going and had to check it out. I ordered the combo, half brisket, half pulled pork. And, I'm just going to say it, the BEST pulled pork I've ever had. The brisket was also amazing, second only and maybe to Smoque in Chicago. And that's a maybe. But man oh man would I enjoy judging that taste test challenge side by side. With two sides it came to $9 and change. I got the spicy sauce which was perfect. Cole slaw is grocery store type and corn bread is ok but it doesn't matter. Its all about the bbq. And there is a big tent with picnic tables behind the store.

The best ribs, rib tips, pork, chicken. LOVE the meet not so much a fan of the sauce. With that said the meet is so good it does not need the sauce. It makes the best dinners when I don't feel like cooking or Packer parties.

Some of the best BBQ I have ever had . Hard to believe it's in a gas station in East Troy Wisconsin Portions are huge food is outstanding can't wait to go back for more

Finally a great BBQ that is easy to get to, inexpensive and to die for. Went there last Sunday for linner (Lunch - dinner) with my wife and adult son. We wanted to try everything and were also hoping for left overs - which we got. For $50 we got 1/2 order of rib tips, huge pile of pulled pork, a very large smoked sausage, 1/2 rack ribs, 1/4 smoked chicken, 3 pc's corn bread, and 3 sides. The 1/2 order of rib tips was a meal in itself, for 1 person, and they were heavenly. The corn bread was delicous as was the smoked sausage. The chicken was outstanding. To me the ribs and the pulled pork were jusk ok.

I been looking up and down for good BBQ in the north and today i found something close enough to what i am use to. being that i am a Louisiana man, i know what good Q tastes like, i had the sampler today and the ribs were text book perfect, the chicken had a real nice rub flavor, i would have like to taste a little more smoke in the brisket, the potato salad could use a little more seasoning but were still in my top 10, last but not least the beans blew me away they are off the chain....... folks the PRICE IS Right for a meal that good. they give you enough food to feed a horse. You must check this place out. ,,,,,,, Leon´s smoker is not for show, it is smoking the best BBQ around hands down, GO SEE WHAT LEON IS COOKING FOLKS.

Eat here NOW!! Best BBQ ever. I got The Bear: awesome sausage w/ brisket chili, cole slaw & onions on a delicious hoagie. Every time we pass by East Troy, we eat here. Hungry or not.
(5)Michael S.
So far my favorite bbq place in the greater, greater mke area lol. I love that you can taste the smoke in the meat but it doesn't stay with you all day long and keep tasting it like oversmoking meat does. The spicy bbq sauce is great and I really wish they would bottle it. Meats are nice and moist and I've never had a complr about the serving size except maybe the corn bread. They could definitely give me more cornbread cuz it's soo good. Real moist and creamy almost more like a dessert than a substitute for a roll. If going through or by east troy check it out!

Love, love, love I am a massive lover of BBQ... Give me pulled meat of any type and you have got a happy girl ;) I normally do a sample platter of sorts that has brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and some of their sausage (as well as a side) It's a good chunk of food but who doesn't love leftovers? If they have bread pudding... order some... If you don't see it, ask for it. The owner, a big cat with a great smile, always seems to be in the trudges serving up heaps of meat...you'll know'em when you see him... Ask him for his recommendations if you are having a hard time narrowing down your decision.

I drive a half an hour to eat here. Really good food and nice people! Reasonable prices. I wished they'd open up a place in Milwaukee!
(5)S T.
I was driving past east Troy so you know where I'm going. I had the ribs and chicken again. Leons ribs are just annoying the was they fall off the bone and when you dip them in the sauce they fall apart and drop into the sauce. How Leon gets the ribs that tender and juicy is amazing. I don't know where Leon got his skills but he is the rib master. The chicken was very good and the sides the same. I had the spicy BBQ sauce this time and it was quite good. This is a must try if you like ribs and I wish Leon was closer to Milwaukee. This is five thumbs up.

Hands down the best bbq I have ever had in Wisconsin. For my first visit, they did not have ribs ready yet, so I settled for a sandwich that had a combination of chicken, pork, and brisket. I asked for spicy bbq sauce which is not that spicy, and cornbread as a side. A-Mazing! After that meal I knew I would have to come back for the ribs. Less than a month later, I found myself in the area, so I stopped by again. Asked for the ribs, and they had some ready to go! A half rack of ribs with spicy sauce, two servings of cornbread and some napkins and I was ready to enter meat nirvana. There is a lot of love and time behind this food, and although the location seems a bit weird the staff is pretty awesome too. Both times I visited I think the owner was working, or maybe he is just the head chef, I will have to ask. Definitely going to buy a medium sized tee-shirt on my next visit. I know this is a bit out of the way for most people, but if you like barbecue you owe yourself a visit.

This is the best barbecue i ever had. I got the sampler and tried all the meats. Everything was done perfect. The portions are huge.
(5)Joe B.
First off - this is a gas station. I didn't read far enough into the reviews to realize this, and the pictures wouldn't load on my phone. Was quite a shock. Got the sampler and a full order of nachos. Wasn't able to try the brisket because they were out. Website says "all meals are prepared without BBQ sauce" but they still covered everything instead of putting it on the side. Nachos were corn chips with shredded cheese, tons of bbq sauce, and various meat. Maybe if the cheese was melted and didnt have BBQ sauce all over it it'd be pretty good, but it was mostly just a mess. Not at all worth the trip, but overall the ribs, chicken, sausage, and pulled port in the sampler were decent. I'd probably stop by again if I was in the area.

Good amount of food for the price. Enjoyed the brisquit. Will try the ribs next time. Beans were ok, could be better with a smoky flavor or meat added. I've never had BBQ at a gas station before, yet it was sure better than I thought it would be. I liked the old time BBQ feel of the restaurant.

This BBQ is as good as it gets in Wisconsin. This is a heavily-smoked, in-your-face delicious type of BBQ. All the meats are outstanding but I'm a brisket guys. I skip the sides and buy it by the pound. I just grabbed a few pounds while heading down to the Kettle Moraine for some camping. This puts those "famous" chain places to shame.
(5)Doug Y.
It's a shame they closed for so long with no idea if they are bankrupt or headed for the hills. I know they are remodeling but they lost my loyalty. Wish them the best.
(1)Shawn L.
I really like this BBQ & the ability to grab a pound of your favorite is great.
(5)Matthew H.
Delicious! Don't let the gas station location fool you. BBQ Chicken nachos and brisket were excellent.

This is what roadside BBQ is all about. Nothing fancy, just good food that most folks can't or won't make at home. Slow smoked meats are the star here. I had the pulled pork this time because the guy in front of me in line ordered the last of the ribs. I wasn't disappointed with this choice by any means. Pork that you could taste the smoke in, but wasn't overpowered by it at all. It was also gently spiced to enhance the flavor of the meat not mask it. I had no unrendered fat or other undesirables in my portion, just tender pork goodness. There was a choice of a couple of sauces that I had on the side. I found myself not using much of either...not because they were bad, just that they really weren't needed. I had coleslaw and beans for sides. Both were o.k. but honestly nothing all that special. Some others in extensive line in front of me commented that they thought the menu was a little pricey, but I 'm sure they changed their tune when they realized the value they had gotten by both the quality of the meat and the portion size. The fact that there's a line that long to begin with tells you something. Not overpriced at all in my opinion. Don't plan on eating on site unless you bring your own place to sit. No inside seating is offered since their set-up is a counter inside the gas station. I personally would rather eat this stuff in my car than go to an immitation bbq restaurant and have a waiter serve me mass produced product on china plates over white linen tablecloths. Now, I've only been here once so far but after smelling the smells and tasting what I've tasted, I'm confident in saying that this is indeed real deal bbq.

I don't know where Leon learned his craft, but his skills are good, both culinary and social. We stopped by on Yelp's recommendation while traveling out of Milwaukee to see relatives. He introduced himself to my family of five, chatted awhile, gave one son a complimentary piece of birthday cornbread, and then served us some of the best bbq we have eaten. Looking forward to stopping regularly and to asking relatives to stop and pick up some combos and ribs when en route to visiting us.
(5)Megan B.
Awesome, delicious, to die for! Leon is a master. Can't tell you how many times I pick up dinner at this place. The combo platter feeds my family of 4 with left overs. He has added a nice outside picnic area great for when the weather is nice. There are a few inside high top seats if you are looking to eat right away. So glad this place is here!

I was on my way to visit a friend in East Troy and was attracted by the wonderful aroma. The owner was working the counter and was very friendly and of course knowledgable about his food. I tried just about everything, taking it home to Madison for dinner. Everything was delicious, but our favorites were the brisket and the chili. Definitely worth the stop!
(4)Mike W.
This place has some of the best BBQ I have had. I ordered the sampler platter, 1/4 chicken, 1/4 rack of ribs, better than a 1/2 pound of brisket and a large sausage. It came with your voice of two sides. The ribs and beans side was delicious. Lots of great dinner and sandwich selections on the menu. Most dinners are able feed to two. Be prepared for a wait as seemingly lots of folks know about this place. Already looking forward to my next visit. Looks like I need to save room for the banana pudding!

It boggles me that this place is so popular. We decided to eat in tonight so we stopped off for takeout ribs. They were overdone, dry and just above room temperature. It's my impression that they had been sitting for a fair amount of time. A rack was $22.95 which included two sides. The coleslaw was okay. The corn bread was literally cold. Ribs are their signature menu item. Hopefully, the other menu items are better.

I came back tonight as promised. I tried "The Drake", a sandwich made with Brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. Exceptional!! Moist, tasty, and excellent BBQ smoke flavor. We also tried the large nachos which are smothered in cheese and pulled pork and pulled chicken - incredible!!! Finally, we got a whole smoked chicken with sides of beans and corn bread. Beans had exceptional flavor!! Now I enjoyed what the rave was all about :) This place is well worth the stop, and worth every bit of 5 stars. Good job on the quality this trip - I was impressed :)

I've heard about this place from a lot of folks as the place to stop at on your way to Wisconsin. As I had to make that run a couple times, I decided to stop in and check it out. I bought the Combo sandwich and lb of pulled pork. Really not sure what the big deal is. Tasted like something I could make in a crock pot with just pouring in some BBQ sauce. Very little smoke flavor. The place is part of a gas station, so maybe I shouldn't have expected much, but without the meat having a strong smoked flavor, I just don't get the point in buying it from someone else. If you are in the area and are desperate for BBQ, you probably don't have any other choices. But I'd hold off and head to St Louis when I get the hankering.

Great Oak-Smoked BBQ. Place is getting too popular,! I had a 20 min wait on a Sunday afternoon at 1:30!

I've only been a few times, but this place rocks. Don't let the fact that it's inside of a gas station fool you. This is real bbq. Their chili is one of the best I've had (besides my own). I don't get out to East Troy very often, but when I do this place is definitely on my radar.
